Villa Mint / Palazzo Mint, Italy

Villa Mint is an iconic Italian house, dating back to the late 18th Century. The house has been owned by several members of Italian nobility over the centuries; counts, marquis and barons. Noted architects are formally quoted showering praise upon the taste and design of this regal homestead. This villa, also know as Palazzo Mint, is currently for sale for around 600,000 €.

The house is spread over 4 floors, including a basement. It sits proudly atop a hill, overlooking the nearby city from within its impressive 3-acre estate grounds. The panoramic views from the upper floors are breathtaking from the mansions hilly vantage point.

The main attraction of Villa Mint, is the bright and airy hall in the heart of the house. The grandiose baroque and classical revival architecture is painted a wonderful light minty green. This central room stands two-storeys tall, with an internal balcony encircling from the level of the upper floor. The rails and banisters of the balcony are ornate white-painted wrought iron.

The walls and ceilings feature frescos and plaster mouldings. The ground floor walls feature sculptured plaster (stuccos) in alcoves, depicting suits of armor neatly displayed on racks and pedastals. The suits of armor carry arrow quivers, a feature which matches the plaster reliefs on the domed ceiling towering above. Fluted columns extend the full height of each floor, painted gold, give the room a classical feel.

The upper floor features two emerald green frescos, with bold golden frames. The scenes depict men and women in dramatic long flowing robes, with cherubs floating around them in a cloud-filled paradise.

    • Ironically, despite the big entrance hall area, the villa isn’t really that big. At least they had an impressive central foyer, bed they could hold some nice parties there with a fair few guests 🙂

  1. truly and truly such a beautiful place I feel the Bathroom with the dark wall is the one that caught my attention I would get thet grafetti scrubbed off and board up that broken window to keep the grandeur in a pristine way

    • Ah I think this comment is meant for another post maybe, not sure there is a dark room bathroom here 🙂
