Redwall Cottage is a small isolated farmhouse, forgotten among the rolling hills of the English countryside. Not much history can be found about this quaint two bedroom house. This little cottage was found during a late summer drive in 2016. I have revisited recently to find all access secure, but peering through the windows little has changed inside.
Inside the cottage appears to be untouched. Curtains have been removed from the windows, and used as makeshift dust covers for some of the furniture. The lounge has a pile of old books and comics on a table beneath the window. A magnifying glass sits beside the sofa.
The stairway walls are painted a bright red, contrasting with the numerous black and white photos lining the way upstairs.
The master bedroom has similarly brightly painted walls, this time a canary yellow. The bed is a modern-style wrought iron four-poster bed. Against the more modern bed frame and wall colours, are older furniture and trinkets. Glass candlestick holders and a porcelain wash basin and jug, rest atop traditional doilies. Were these mementos and gifts from an older family member, or did an older person live here who had a taste for more modern furniture and wall colours.

What a pretty little cottage, I could move in there tomorrow ?
Was full of character this one, and felt quite happy and welcoming as I wandered about for an hour or so 🙂
