While in Hungary, we broke our journey back to Budapest at a location that is not truly “abandoned” in the traditional sense. Inspired by the beauty and silence of this place, I spent an evening editing the photographs to create the feel of a “lost fishing village”. My goal was to re-create the feel of a forgotten fishing village near Sződliget on a misty evening, after all the inhabitants have disappeared.
There is a fishing lake near the town of Sződliget, its banks dotted with small rustic wooden fishing cabins. With the sun rapidly setting we took some time to relax and take photos of this picturesque spot.
The A-frame fishing huts encircle the lake, set in a nature reserve which is a long walk from where we parked our car. Entry to the lake is prohibited without a fishing permit but our presence as photographers was seemingly tolerated by the few people we bumped into. We spent a few hours enjoying the sunset, the way the orange tones reflected off the water and the constantly changing light. The sun sank lower and another memorable day drew to a close. The water was glass-like, with no wind to disturb the reflections. Shadows cast from leafy trees produced dappled shading around the edges of the lake. Softening the contact between land and water. Several small islands are connected by bridges, providing opportunities for us all to split up and find new inventive angles to photograph.

Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed the atmosphere ?
The amount of looks we got here haha, was beautiful though.
I really liked it as well, a great way to end an awesome day!
I love what you’ve done with these. It looks like a photo report from a pretty old issue of National Geographic.
Thanks dude :). I guess they do feel a bit “oldy-worldy”

Gorgeous photos you have captured the tranquility and peacefulness of this location inspiring the imagination XX
Thanks. Wish I could go back, pull up a chair and watch the insects dancing on the water again. Very nice spot!
I swear it looks like the bottom half of a wolves face in the water starting below the hut & to the right! Or maybe I should put the blunt down hehehe ?
Clearly have a more imaginative mind than me, as sadly I cant see it (maybe it IS the blunt though ?)
Great capture
