Blue Sand Room is a curious small room in a cluster of abandoned houses in Austria. The rest of the rooms in these houses have been mostly stripped, and they are barely visible from the road due to vegetation overgrowth. There is also an abandoned cotton mill nearby, so it seems likely these are the derelict remains of the former workers houses.
The room is painted bright blue, with a single painting the Virgin Mary, holding the infant Christ, is hung between the two long windows. The room is curiously filled with sand, and furniture lies scattered around randomly. The furniture is painted the same colour as the walls, even the sofa has been painted. From asking other explorers from Austria, Blue Sand Room is thought to be an art installation or artist’s project. I could not find out who the artist was, so perhaps they are yet to become famous.
